Eugenio De Corso, MD, PhD, is an ear, nose, and throat specialist at the Institute of Otorhinolaryngology, A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCSS, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. His principal areas of clinical expertise are nasal polyps, chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic and nonallergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and otitis media.  

Dr De Corso obtained his medical degree from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. He completed an internship in internal medicine and general surgery at the A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCSS and a residency in otorhinolaryngology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, where he later earned a PhD in the physiopathology of the nasopharyngeal district. Abilitation as Associate Professor since 2012 and as full Professor since 2021. 

Dr De Corso’s research interests are wide-ranging and have included endoscopic treatment, laryngectomy, brachytherapy, otosclerosis surgery, type 2 inflammation in nonallergic rhinitis, and the management of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). He has overseen clinical studies of patients undergoing new therapies, such as biologics for severe uncontrolled CRSwNP and the efficacy of biologics on refractory eosinophilic otitis media associated with CRSwNP. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications.

A member of numerous Italian professional organizations, he is a member of Committee for rhinological diagnosis of  Società Italiana di Rinologia;  member of several Società Italiana di Otorinolaringoiatria e Chirurgia Cervico Facciale (SIOeChCF), Associazione Universitari ORL (AUORL), Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Cervico Cefalica (AIOCC), Gruppo Romano Laziale di Otorinolaringoiatria e Chirurgia Cervico-Facciale, Società Polispecialistica Italiana dei Giovani Chirurghi, European Society of Rhinology (ERS), SIR (Società Italiana di Rinologia). Accademia Italiana di Rinologia (AIR), Accademia italiana di citologia nasale (AICNA). Dr De Corso is also a member of the European Society of Rhinology and the European Forum for Research and Education in Allergy and Airway Diseases (EUFOREA), where he is a member of the EPOS Steering Group and co-author of the European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps 2020. 

From May 2011 he was Editorial Coordinator of Acta Otorhinolaryngologica Italica, journal of Società Italiana di Otorinolaringoiatria, Editor in Chief Prof. Gaetano Paludetti.  From May 2017 he is Associate Editor of Acta Otorhinolaryngologica Italica – Editor in Chief Prof. Mohssen Ansarin. Since 2020 member of editorial board of Rhinology Editor in Chief Wytske Fokkens. Reviewer of several international journals: Rhinology, Laryngoscope, International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, American Journal of Rhinology. International forum of allergy and clinical immunology.  From 2017 member of European Forum for Research and Education in Allergy and Airway Diseases (EUFOREA). Member of ’EPOS steering group - Co-Author of new guidelines for CRSwNP: European Position Paper 2020. Member of the Commission of Società Italiana di Otorinolaringoiatria for: Studio e Utilizzo dei farmaci biologici in rinologia.  Commissione SIOeChCF – Farmaci biologici in Rinologia. Member of RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE of Associazione Naso Sano from July 2020.
